ILAG possesses a wide range of products out of a sol-gel route, having various quality grades and additional properties, such as an improved flexibility or a higher viscosity. These inorganic products are among the hardest of all ILAGs products.
The basic chemistry behind these coatings is the acid catalyzed hydrolysis of an alkoxysilane, followed by the subsequent condensation of the silanols obtained into a 3D-network.
The glass-like ceramic coating obtained through this route presents an extraordinary hardness, excellent release properties and are fireproof.
Since their curing temperature is relatively low, a wide range of substrates can be used, being metallic and non metallic. In most cases, sandblasting or the use of a primer to promote adhesion will be required.
Due to their temperature stability, and their excellent release and mechanical properties, these coatings are very well indicated for high temperature and/or easy to clean applications.
